Can you believe it’s already October?
I sure can’t.
Today I was visiting with family east of the city and from there, my sister and I drove northwest to our mom and dad’s place. Wow. What a colourful drive. It’s hard to believe that nature can make such brilliant and vibrant colours and combinations! It truly is a wonder.
We stopped at a farm store en route and picked out two pumpkins (one short and stout, the other tall and slim!), a handful of gourds and some juicy honeycrisp apples.
I didn’t have my camera (bad, bad blogger. Shame on me).
I used to love going camping this time of year with my high school art class – we’d head up to Georgian Bay with brushes, pencils and sketchpads and just paint or draw or dream. The connection I have to nature really inspired some of my earliest works of jewellery making – from the colour combinations of my beaded works to the designs and shapes of the metal-forming pieces I made when I first started school and have continued to develop.
After this drive, though, I can’t stop thinking about those bright orange and vibrant yellow leaves contrasting with the fall blue sky. I’m definitely going to have to put that colour combo into my next Op-Art pendant!
