Last Thursday was the opening of the show that my work is part of That Way This Way at Harbourfront Centre. I am really pleased with the way everything turned out! The vitrines where my pieces are look fabulous and the other exhibits also opening were all really great! There are some really interesting pieces. My favourite pieces are part of the exhibit Not So Fast which is in the main gallery. I loved the installation entitled Great Lake Walk by Vanessa Dion Fletcher in which the artist strapped copper sheet to her feet and walked across the Canadian landscape. The display included a video of Dion Fletcher walking across rocky terrain and shorelines, the pieces of copper which she wore and prints which she made from the plates. I also enjoyed Bev Koski‘s work in which she covers small figurines depicting Indigenous North Americans with seed beads. There are many other great exhibits so you should check out the show if you get a chance!
Here are a few pics of my work on display.

Tomorrow is the opening for the exhibition I am participating in entitled That Way This Way at Harbourfront Centre. The show features myself and three of my fellow artist-in-residence, Jen Kneulman (textiles), Aaron Oussoren (glass) and Heather Rathbun (Metal).
The exhibition explores the link between history and contemporary craft. Harbourfront Centre writes that in the show ‘the rich pasts of craft, art and industry are reinterpreted and exploited to make energized new works. That’s the way it was and this is how it is!’
The show will run from July 20th-September 23, 2012. The opening recepetion is Thursday, July 19th from 6-10. The show is opening alongside 7 other exciting exhibitions. You can read about all of them on the Harbourfront website by clicking here.

Now in its 51st year, the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition is a juried showcase featuring contemporary fine art and craft that takes place annually every July. I am very excited to go out and have a look around. This year I am so pleased that so many of my friends and colleagues got accepted into the show! If you are planning on attending the show and don’t know where to start looking I will share with you some very talented and creative people I know. Check them out. You won’t be disappointed! Click on an artist to be taken to their website for a sneak peak at what they might have at the show! The show runs Friday and Saturday from 10:30-7:30 and Sunday from 10:30-6:30.
